December 29, 2008 - New York, New York

The Site Selection Network was featured last week in a BusinessWeek.com article on locating businesses in the Americas as a solution for smaller businesses seeking new locations. We thought that you might enjoy reading it as well as a related slideshow.

Of course, smaller businesses make up over 80 percent of the job creating companies, so as a member of the Site Selection Network, you are in good company.

Site Selection Network Second Annual Conference in San Francisco a Hit with Conference Attendees.
October 4,2008 - Berkeley, California

A successful conference in the City by the Bay was the order of the day for Site Selection Network members and attendees. The focus of this year’s conference was on three days of seminars and panels on current economic development trends in
high profile target industries such as biotechnology, logistics, alternative energy, and real estate conducted by the CEO's that make those industries go. Attendees also were able to fine tune their own EDO operations with seminars on finance, industry targeting, incentive development, community marketing, and trade show
management by the nation's leading consultants in those fields. Case studies of actual Site Selection Network projects featuring executives from the solar power and biotechnology industries were a highlight of the event. Offsite tours of biotechnology companies in the Bay Area provide real-world experience on factors that are critical to a successful location. Throw in a World class venue like the Claremont Resort and fine dining in the San Francisco area and a highly educational/entertaining event emerged. Here are some quotes from the attendees of this year's conference..

James,

Today is my first day back in the office from my travels last week.  I just wanted to congratulate you on a very successful conference.  I was very pleased to get to meet you and become somewhat acquainted…

Thanks again for a great conference.  I really enjoyed it.

Hi Jim.  I thought there was some really good content in the meetings the last several days.

I know some of the speakers said we could access to their presentations?
I missed some due to trying to meet with the various speakers.

Can you make the power points available?  I told Don and Ed I planned to borrow shamelessly from their presentations because I'm trying to develop a clean tech/energy presentation that I have to do in couple of weeks.  I'd like to use several of the charts and graphs.

Thanks

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the opportunity to further discuss the training school for wind turbine maintenance. I will call you on Monday along with a project manager. Let me know what time works best.

I enjoyed the conference. There is value in having the ability to interact with smaller numbers. It was productive as well as informative. Thanks for including us.

Have a good weekend.

Site Selection Network First Annual Networking Conference Hits The Jackpot!
February 22, 2007 – Las Vegas, NV

What happens in Vegas isn't going to stay in Vegas when it comes to the attendees at SSN's First Annual Networking Conference. Three days of seminars and panels on current economic development trends in high profile target industries such as biotechnology, logistics, automotive, commercial real estate, and medical device manufacturing conducted by the CEO's that make those industries go. Attendees also were able to fine tune their own EDO operations with seminars on finance, industry targeting, incentive development, community marketing, and trade show management by the nation's leading consultants in those fields. Throw in a World class venue like the Venetian, the Phantom of the Opera, and that entertainment that is uniquely Vegas, and you have attendees who said:

"Jim - first allow me to congratulate you, Kelly, Peter and John on what I thought was one of the better conferences I had ever attended. You can definitely count on me being at the next one, and bringing along a few more folks.".Art Whelan Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership

"Jim.a belated note to say how much I enjoyed the SSN Conference in Las Vegas last week. Your speaker lineup and program were just perfect. We are working hard to get this regional marketing organization off the ground and conferences like this are an excellent way for me to get connected with the right people. Thanks!.".W. Andrew Burke, The Regional Alliance for Economic Development

"Just a short note to thank you for what I sincerely hope was the "First Annual Networking Conference" put on SSN. Finally someone is delivering information that is coming largely from others in the trenches as well as folks in closely related professions. I came away with a lot of answered questions and sources to find information on issues that have never been clearly answered for me in the past. I have been in this business since 1966 and have been to an endless mix of "how to" conferences and seminars and some of those have been good but none of them have come to the grass roots level of filling in the detail that you and John Schuetz did.".Russell Staiger President/CEO Bismarck-Mandan Development Association

"Jim..I thought the Site Selection Network conference was great. Hopefully, more site selectors will attend in the future."...Michael Nuby Manager, Project Management, Southern California Edison
